What is a Container Skel or Skeletal Trailer?

 


Container skel trailer Gold Coast are a kind of transportation that is transporting one or two shipping containers. It can be fixed or adjusted; its length depends on what cargo or size of the container it can carry. Skel is also called a Skeletal Trailer.

 

How are Containers Loaded into the Skeletal Trailer?

 

There are many ways of loading containers onto the trailers. Here are as follows:

 

Trailer must be Placed or in Position

 

Locate or find a suitable area or place when starting the loading process. The area of the trailer should be close to the empty container that needs to be loaded into the trailer. The parking gear and trailer’s parking brake of the prime mover need to be set when in position. Also, please keep in mind that using protective gear such as vests, helmets, and shoes should be worn by all the personnels.

Forklift

It is a truck used when lifting and moving items or goods over a short distance. It is a piece of equipment that is used in manufacturing and warehouse operations that is very versatile and cost-effective.

 

Sideloaders

This is a great vehicle that can carry longer loads like long pipes or timber over longer distances. Sideloaders must be operated at a comfortable pace and ensure that the surrounding area is clear. 

 

Container Jacks

It can be used in lifting containers on and off the trucks without the need of a crane on site or in the field. Container Jacks has one great benefit which can be operated using a regular source of electricity and generators and is very affordable.

 

Reach Stackers 

This is a kind of vehicle that is able to transport a container very quickly and pile them in a short distance. Reach Stackers have the ability to move containers and stack them about 3 to 4 high and 2 deep.

 

Truck Cranes

It is a transport vehicle that is also called a boom truck which has a crane built into its structure that helps when loading and unloading large goods. Top load can be similar as reach stacker but not common when it comes to depth limitation.

 

Tilt Bed Trailer

It is a trailer with a tilting deck that makes it easier to load and transport automobiles. This allows the container to slide and off the trailer.

 

Using Twistlocks to Secure the Container

 

After loading onto the trailer, the container needs to be secured in place, so it does not dislodge or move during the transport. Twistlocks must be rotated 90 degrees to ensure that the container stays locked down at each corner and is securely connected to the trailer, for safe transport.

 

Do a careful or thorough inspection for safety

 

Once all the containers are already loaded in the trailer, you must ensure that it is securely locked in and ready for transportation. Checking the shipping container, prime mover and the trailer are the most important things that need to be examined before the departure.
